The Strokes - Someday
Home movie style:
The Strokes have used a very relaxed style making the footage almost look like a home movie. A factor contributing to this would be the lack of professional lighting making it look amateur and as well indie due to its grungy nature. As well they included a very normal activities such as eating and smoking again adding to its relaxed home movie approach.



Setting: 
The stokes have used three different contrasting settings. The first is a very normal pub/bar where the band are hanging out with friends drinking and playing game machines. This again creates a very relaxed approach making the band look cool and chilled out and not superficial like most pop videos.
The second looks like a warehouse of some sort where the band are rehearsing fitting with the previous bar setting.

The third in on a flashy game show which massively contrasts to the grungy bar beforehand however this setting is seen as ironic as the band are not taking them selfs seriously unlike most contestants on games shows.

Performance footage is included with the video even though it is again very relaxed as they are in a regular setting. 

Smoking, drinking and violence:

These common traits of indie/rock music videos and associated habits linked to these sorts of bands are all included in the video. However violence is portrayed in a childish way and maybe wouldn't be classed as violence in the first place, the band in jokey way tackle the opposing team on the panel show. Smoking and drinking are also common throughout again to reenforce their cool persona.

There are many reoccurring close up shots of the lead singer fitting with the music video convention.
